Our Origins
Board Director
It all started in 2015, when our founder, Michael Barrick, stumbled upon a problem many nonprofit organizations face: they didn't know how to store their "board minutes." He researched multiple boards and discovered the frustrating, outdated, and inefficient methods for sharing and storing important board documents. As a result, meetings were bogged down with paper-based packets, and critical information often needed to be recovered in transit.
That's when the idea of Board Director was born. He saw an opportunity to revolutionize the way boards operate and bring the process into the modern age. He envisioned a platform where board members could access all of their essential information in one secure place, from anywhere, at any time.
So, with a passion for innovation and a drive to improve the boardroom experience, Board Director was founded. The platform quickly gained traction, and today, it's used by boards of all sizes and industries, streamlining their processes and making it easier for directors to stay informed and engaged.
Board Director Institute
Fast forward to 2021, and the team behind Board Director Institute was born with a mission to fill a crucial gap in director education. So we set out to speak with hundreds of directors and board members, and what we discovered was eye-opening.
The #1 flaw we found was a lack of training in the fundamentals of board governance.
So, we decided to do something about it. We created the Board Director Institute to empower directors with the knowledge, skills, and confidence they need to drive lasting success. Our cutting-edge training programs are designed to transform the way board directors think, lead, and succeed. Coined by Grant Cardone in the 10X Rule, we believe that “Success is your duty," and we're here to help you with that duty.
